Compare Texts

When a text comparison is useful

Use Text Compare when you have two versions of the same material and want to see what changed. It can help with revised notes, updated instructions or configuration text, especially when a small change is difficult to spot by reading both versions separately.

Choose a clear original and a revised version so that additions and removals have an understandable direction. The comparison reports differences in the supplied text; it does not judge which version is clearer, more accurate or better written.

Understanding line-by-line differences

The result distinguishes added, removed and unchanged lines. Read a changed passage with its surrounding lines to understand the context rather than treating every highlighted difference as an error.

Line breaks and whitespace are part of an exact comparison. A layout change can therefore produce differences even when the overall message stays the same. Review the relevant passages yourself before transferring changes into your final document; the tool does not automatically resolve conflicting edits.
